Remember to add keywords if your query is a specific one. Hello there,I'm new to Neverwinter and thought I would start on the second game after all the fantastic things I've heard about it.I've also heard, however, that the game on release was a bit of a mess, one that has since been fixed/patched by a skilled and hardworking modding community. So where should I exactly? What are key mods that fix/save or simply improve the playing experience? Is there anything essential I need to do before I jump in (as in any key programs/clients of files etc.)?
Any advice would be great.I have the version 2.1.0.6 of the game.Cheers!:). First, a great place to get NWN2 mods is nexusmods (see link under 'Modding Links' section on right sidebar). There are basically 2 types of mods, some that adjust the User Interface and others that provide custom adventures (modules and campaigns). Of the first category, I recommend the HD mods by Tchos, these modify the main screens in the game for better layout at high resolutions.
I would also recommend getting one of the many custom portrait packs to set custom portrait images of your party members. Of the second category, the remakes of Ice Wind Dale and Baldur's Gate are both well-done and lengthy campaigns.
In addition, there are tons of other well-done, less well-known campaigns such as The Wizard's Apprentice and Tales From The Lake of Sorrows. There are some online lists which contain the most popular campaigns. One thing that appeals to me, personally, about NWN2 is that the number of community-made campaigns leaves tons of fun possibilities to discover. Be ready to do a small bit of work when setting up the mods, they usually contain instructions of where the different files need to be copied; they usually do not have a program that sets them up automatically. It normally involves unzipping some files and then copy/pasting some folders/files based on some step-by-step instructions.
